The sofa is the most load bearing decision in any living room and most people only realise that after they’ve made the wrong one. Too deep and it swallows you. Too low and getting up becomes an event. The wrong fabric and you’re living around it rather than on it. We’ve spent a long time thinking about what actually makes a sofa work for the way people use their homes, not just how it photographs in a showroom on a bright day with no one sitting on it.

What we look for is proportion, comfort that holds up after years of daily use, and upholstery that can handle real life. We think about how a sofa sits in a smaller terraced house as much as a larger open plan space. Leg style, arm height, whether it comes in a configuration that actually fits. These are the sofas we would put in our own sitting rooms without hesitation.
