Pillowcases Worth the Soft Touch
The thing about pillowcases is that your face is pressed against them for eight hours every night. That is not a small detail. And yet most people are sleeping on whatever came with the duvet set, pilling quietly, fading after four washes, doing the job badly. We think pillowcases deserve more serious attention than they usually get. What we have been looking for is the kind of softness that improves with washing rather than declining, fabric that stays cool in the night rather than trapping heat, and a finish that makes the whole bed look pulled together before you have even made it properly. There is also the question of closure. An envelope back done well keeps the pillow in place. A poor one does not. We have looked at cotton percale, washed linen, and a few Egyptian cotton options that genuinely earn the price. The ones here are the ones we would choose for our own beds. That is always where we start.
