The bedside table is one of the hardest working pieces of furniture in the house and it almost never gets treated that way. It needs to hold a lamp, a glass of water, whatever book you’re pretending to read, your phone, and probably a few things you’d rather not admit to. It needs to do all of that without looking chaotic. And it needs to look good from the bed, which is where you actually see it most.
What we’ve been looking for here is the combination that’s harder to find than it should be. Enough surface area to be useful. At least one drawer or shelf, because open tops show everything. A height that actually works with a standard bed frame. And something that looks like it was chosen with care rather than grabbed as an afterthought.
These are pieces that understand what a bedside table is really for. The ones that make the end of the day feel a little more considered.
