A good footstool is doing more work in a room than most people give it credit for. It is a place to put your feet up at the end of a long day, yes, but it is also extra seating when people arrive unexpectedly, a surface for a tray of drinks on a Sunday afternoon, and often the piece that makes a sofa feel complete rather than just planted in a room. The problem is that most footstools either look the part or function well. Finding one that does both is where it gets harder.
We have been looking for footstools that are properly sized, covered in something that wears well, and sturdy enough to actually sit on when the room fills up. Poufs that hold their shape. Upholstered cubes with lids worth using. Classic ottoman styles that bring real presence. We have thought about fabric, about filling, about whether the legs are an afterthought or a considered detail. These are the ones that earn their place.
